30th October 2017

We were away with the family at the weekend.   Mr M is one of five and as a result family gatherings are large.   We rented a house on Exmoor and much joviality was had.   Hence it has taken a bit of a time to recover and therefore a gap in blog writing.

It's now Thursday and we've had a fresh delivery of beef from our lovely local smallholding, Oaktrack.   The beef looks gorgeous and it would be rude not to take some home straight away to try.  We go for steak and grab a jar of Hollandaise Sauce, fresh watercress, mushrooms, onion and some veg to roast to go with it.

Good meat is a luxury.   There is no doubt about it.   Meat like this should not be eaten every day but rather relished and anticipated like the delicious treat it is.

We've just had a new kitchen put in and in the decision process thought it was unnecessary to install an extraction hood.   We didn't have one before and the cooker is close to a window.   It's not been a problem until now, but steak does create a bit of cooking mist to say the least.   However, it was definitely worth it!   This steak was fantastic and cooked to perfection.   A little messy, but worth every mouthful.
